Terms & Conditions

We want to make sure you have an enjoyable time riding the North Yorkshire moors and coast. To help us to make this happen please read our terms and conditions below.

METHODS OF PAYMENT Your booking or hire is not guaranteed until payment has been received. Full payment is required before any cycling equipment will be delivered. We accept payment by credit card (MasterCard & Visa) UK debit cards.

CYCLE HIRE CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS No refunds will be given for cancellations of cycle hire bookings. If you are unable to undertake your cycle hire booking due to serious illness, jury service or any other serious reason, your booking can be transferred to another date subject to availability within a 6 month period from the original booking date. Transfers can only be made if you cancel your booking at least one day before the date of the hire. If you do not turn up to collect your equipment on the agreed date of the booking without notifying Moors & Coast at least 48 hours before, we will not be able to transfer your booking to another date.

HELMETS Helmets are provided free of charge and we strongly encourage their use.

YOUNG PERSON SUPERVISION All persons under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult for all Cycle Hire.

EQUIPMENT HIRE Photo identification must be provided upon collection of your cycling equipment such as Passport or Driving Licence. Your ID will be stored securely by Moors & Coast until the equipment has been returned. All cycles and equipment are thoroughly checked after before and after each hire. Any damage found will be charged for. Puncture repairs kits are provided free and only charged if the tube is used or the kit not returned. All bikes returned with punctures will incur a repair and replacement charge. Please cycle sensibly with respect for others and the environment, and always follow the Highway Code (rules 187-211). Anyone cycling in a discourteous or unsafe manner whilst in possession of Moors & Coast Equipment will have the equipment repossessed with no refund of hire charges. All equipment must be available for collection at the correct time as indicated on the booking form. We reserve the right to charge an additional day’s hire fee for late returns for each cycle. No refunds or reductions will be given for any equipment that has been returned for any reason, early. If for any reason we believe a customer cannot competently ride a cycle we reserve the right not to issue them with any cycling equipment.

HIRE AGREEMENT

Upon hiring the equipment, the Hirer:

Agrees to inspect the bicycle(s) prior to signing the hire agreement and confirm that they are in a good state of repair, safe, and fit for purpose

Agrees that they or anyone in their party will not undertake any manoeuvre which is beyond their skill level or unsuitable for the bikes capability

Agrees to fully indemnify Moors & Coast Cycle Hire against injury to anyone within their party, any Third Party and any damage to property

Declares that they are in good health and their eyesight is up to the standard required for a road driving test. They are not suffering from any medical conditions or disability which is likely to adversely affect their normal control of the bicycle

Accepts that cycle helmets have been offered and should they decide not to use them they accept full responsibility. They will have inspected the helmets prior to signing the agreement and confirm they fit and are free of any defects and damage

Declares that all in their party recognise that cycling carries risks and are aware of these risks

Agrees that all bicycles in their party will be locked to an immovable object whenever they are left unattended. Loss or theft of any equipment hired is the hirer’s responsibility and will be charged for

Agrees to pay in advance for the full hire period of the equipment by credit/debit card

Agrees to leave credit/debit card details as security against any potential loss or damage to any equipment in our hire

Agrees that the credit/debit card details left will be debited for the full cost of any loss/damage to any equipment within the hire if caused by wilful neglect or negligence by the hirer or by anyone within their party

Moors & Coast reserves the right not to hire equipment to an individual.
